Walk the Walk

Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge:

“God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.”

(Matthew 28:18-20, MSG)

One of my favorite sayings, often attributed to St. Francis of Assisi reads, “Preach the gospel at all times and if necessary, use words.” One of the reasons I love this quote is because it points to the power of our actions.  Words are necessary when it comes to sharing our faith, but our actions can speak so much louder.  It often causes me to pause and check myself every now and then…am I walking the walk as I am talking the talk?

I have always been one to live my faith out loud.  I strive to live my life in such a way that people take notice, see something in me that makes them pause and wonder just what that might be.  I never shy away from sharing my faith, for it is a huge part of who I am (not just my profession but deep in my core.)  How about you…how do you live out your faith?

This Sunday we have the privilege of hearing from Missionaries Josh, Alisha and Asher Garber as they lead us in worship.  I am excited to have them come and share with us both in worship and more informally over brunch.  I hope you will come and share this time together as we hear about their return to the Mission field this time in Glasgow, Scotland.  It always amazes me to see how God works as we live out the Gospel together.

Blessings,
Pastor Jenni

My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.
