Emmanuel Presbyterian Church is a loving community dedicated to Following Christ, Sharing the Truth, and Serving Others. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Worship Leader to join our church family. Responsibilities include leading worship services, creating new worship traditions, marketing, and working with church staff and members. Candidates should have a musical background and have demonstrated leadership skills. This is a part-time paid position or a paid internship.
Create and Lead Worship Services
In partnership with the Pastor, plan, create, and facilitate worship leadership in church services, ensuring a spiritually engaging and meaningful experience for the community attending in-person and online. Delivery of sermons is not part of this position, but may be negotiated if needed for internship credit.
Cultivate a Spirit of Worship
Develop an atmosphere that inspires and facilitates worship. Lead congregational singing, and interactive expression of praise.
Collaborate with Worship Committees
Attend worship meetings with the pastor, and church members to contribute ideas, and collaborate on upcoming church services. Work in conjunction with the audio visual team to make sure the technical aspects of worship are adequate. This may include exploring new avenues of online worship.
Interpersonal Communication Skills
The worship leader should have a positive attitude and outstanding interpersonal skills. They should be personable in front of the congregation, and when communicating individually. The ability to communicate with multiple generations is key for this position.
New Style Worship Service
Take the lead in creating, developing, and leading a new worship service experience that will be an alternative to the traditional Sunday morning worship. The new worship experience should encompass different styles of praise music such as instrumental, gospel, camp songs, or percussion; and feature unique aspects like a time of fellowship with storytelling, coffee bar, workshops or dancing. Locations may be other than the church’s sanctuary. The goal is to broaden our worship experience through music and interactive activities while creating community.
Online Presence
The worship leader is responsible for marketing/advertising to the community, other churches, various demographics by signs, internet, or front door invitations, or newsletters. Create and post on the church’s social media at least once per week.
Requirements
Must have musical skills able to lead worship by playing an instrument and singing during services, worship experience, leadership qualities, and computer skills, and demonstrate “out of the box” thinking.
Salary range is $15 – $20 an hour, approximately 6 to 10 hours per week.
